Flowerin' Black Swan

For those of us who dance in unison with our antithesis. While innocence rejoices, evil plots. Part of a pair of paintings, the Flowerin’ White Swan is a mirror image of the Flowerin’ Black Swan.

Inspired by PyotrIlyich Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, this painting and its sister painting truly capture my love of dance, theater and culture.

Having dealt with my own mental health afflictions, this painting captures my struggles of good and evil within as well as the two very distinct and polar opposite professional hats I wear as a mathematical actuary and a visual artist.

10 years ago, when I saw Darren Aronofsky’s film the Black Swan and Natalie Portman’s depiction of Nina, I knew I had to incorporate the ideas of self-dichotomy in a visual art piece, and this was the outcome.
